Frequently Asked Questions |
Where did I get all these matches? I recorded most of the matches myself. In the old days using Betamax Video Recorder, then changed to VHS Video Recorder, and now with a DVD Recorder. I also have matches from other sources, and I will keep trying to complete my collection as well as recording all matches available in the future. How many matches per DVD? Most tennis matches run between 90 minutes to 120 minutes. So most of the DVD consist of 1 match. For some matches, especially from Grand Slam or Davis Cup play, it might go up to 2 DVDs or even 3 DVDs. If the match is on 2 DVDs, sometimes the second DVD is not full. It could be 1 hour or even less, and there is nothing I can do about it. In some cases, when it is my own recording, I put some short match on the remaining space. But this is to be treated as a bonus, and I do not do this every time, and I cannot accept special order on this leftover space. This applies to the third DVD as well and so on. Or even when match is on 1 DVD, if it is a short woman's matches, then that is all, unless I make the addition myself. How many minutes does one DVD run? Usually around 2 hours, the most it can play is 2 hours and 8 minutes. Are the matches complete? Most of the matches on the list are complete. Some of them are missing few games here and there, but not at important point of the match. So these matches are more than 80% complete and the endings are definitely there. I do have lots of incomplete matches, but I am keeping them for myself because I don't think it is fair to sell them. But I will be listing the matches that are less than 50% complete but having the ending of the match. If anyone inquiring those matches, I will be informing how much portion of the match are available. Can the DVD play in any player? Yes, I have checked and if you buy DVDs from me, you can play them in your computer DVD-ROM, or in your normal DVD player. How is the quality of the matches? The quality of the matches, depends on the original sources. Most of the transfer that I got from Betamax or VHS tapes are still of good quality. Of course matches from around the late 1980s until late 1990s are not as good as the ones from the year 2000 onwards. But I already made sure that all the matches available from me are of descent quality. So, sadly some of my collection that are not descent enough to be transferred into DVDs stay in those tapes for eternity. The quality of the matches from around year 2000 onwards are almost as good as if you were watching from a normal video player today. And matches from the start of 2005 until now, is of absolute great quality. Because the recordings are done using a DVD recorder, so the quality is just as good as if you were watching it on TV, or maybe better depending on your own individual reception. What if I am not satisfied with my purchase? Well, I try to know each and every customer that I have personally. In fact, I have made a lot of friends since I started this DVD business. So match wise, I always made sure that the matches that I send are what customer really want, even when I was the one recommending them. Quality wise, I must say that I am confident that there will be no technical difficulties to play the DVDs. And if there is, then of course you can e-mail me and tell me what the problems are. Why the DVDs are so plain looking? What is important are the matches inside. We want to watch tennis matches, and not collecting some antiques that needed to have all those fancy stuff to make their appearance looks good. So at the moment, my DVDs only have slim cases for their protection and a piece of paper to let you know the title of the DVDs. Of course, if time permits, I will try to make the DVDs more good looking so that collecting them will be more enjoyable. Do you play tennis? Yes, yes, yes, I play tennis, although not as much as I used to. And not as much as I liked to. And I would like to spend some time to play with anyone of you (who lives in Jakarta of course), just to make new friends or having more challenge on court. How crazy are you about tennis? Tennis is my life, and I cannot imagine life without tennis. Not sleeping, just to watch and record tennis matches has been my way of living since the year 1990. Lots of sacrifices were made because of tennis, although education still comes first. Yet I used to fail my classes because of watching too much tennis on television. But that is all in the past. I got my degree, together with hundreds of tennis matches on videos. Who is your favourite player? For men, Stefan Edberg and now, Roger Federer. I named my son Stefan as an homage to Stefan Edberg. For women, Steffi Graf and Martina Hingis. Other favourites include Boris Becker, Pat Cash, Thomas Muster, Michael Chang, Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter, Gabriela Sabatini, Mary Joe Fernandez, Arantxa Sanchez and of course our own Angelique Widjaja from Indonesia. And I still hope that one day a great tennis player can emerge from our country Indonesia. What is your favourite match? Too many to pick from, so many great matches that I have seen in the years gone by. Maybe Stefan Edberg's heroic battle with Michael Chang in the Semi Final of the 1992 US Open. I watched the match live on television in my little boarding room. In fact I remember buying a new TV and VCR especially for the start of 1992 US Open and it turned out to be the most memorable tournament won by Edberg. Final Score was 6-7,7-5,7-6,5-7,6-4 in 5 hours and 26 minutes on a hot sunny New York. And one must remember that Edberg also played consecutive five-setter against Richard Krajicek and Ivan Lendl in the round before. And in each of the 3 matches against Krajicek, Lendl, and Chang, he came back from a break down in the fifth set. In the final against Pete Sampras, he also had to come back from a set down to win. This is definitely one tournament that I will never forget. As for the women, Steffi Graf's defeat in the hand of Monica Seles at French Open 1992 Final was probably the most exciting match I've ever seen. Seles won 6-2,3-6,10-8, but it was Graf who got the biggest standing ovation Stade Rolland Garros has ever seen. I could even still remember crying during the Trophy Ceremony. Not because Steffi lost, but because of the appreciation that she got from the fans. Do you sell Tennis Equipments? No, but if you need any help to find anything that is related to tennis, I will gladly help you out.
